An increasing number of IT units across campus are adopting the Team Dynamix tool to track hours devoted to projects, service, and support.
The OneIT Project Management Office team reports that most departmental IT directors are eager to begin time tracking for their staff to get a clear picture of how work time is spent. A few departments were already using some form of time tracking, but were willing to transition to Team Dynamix so UI leadership can have a clear picture of the campus-wide IT spend.
The College of Pharmacy began using Team Dynamix to track IT staff’s project and service support time a few months ago, noting that the data has been helpful in decision-making about prioritization and resources. Recently the Tippie College of Business IT staff attended training to begin tracking project time. All other departments, aside from HCIS and the College of Medicine, intend to use Team Dynamix to track project time and in some cases service support hours, too.
The PMO is moving as fast as possible to get the staff, projects, and services entered into Team Dynamix and to get everyone trained. A few units requested specific start dates corresponding with departmental activities, but everyone should be on board by the end of the fiscal year.
The PMO is currently developing and adding content to a new website featuring management-related documents and templates, outlines, explanations of services offered, and updates on projects with which the group is assisting.
